I'd say it's just a matter of personal preference that I like to see most if not all of Japan under the same colour. You're living on borrowed time. I personally like to use a heavyily ashigaru based army in the early-mid game. The faction that starts on the island, Chekosabe I thinkthats has bonuses to farms and archers is easy mode.
A player doesn't know how much cash the other clans have at their disposal. I'm curious to know how long. It is quite possibly the biggest source of angry rage threads in the entire game.
The mechanic would be totally fine, if it applied to every faction not just the player. I rezlm no idea how strong the relationship between the two clans was. The main goal of pre RD period is to raise your diplomatic status with as many clans as possible. Ally with restraint at the start of the game.
But the AI gets a gak ton of advantages to feth me over. If you have money leftover, build markets, gold mines, and improved irrigation on average or better soil. My servant pays me. I'm doing shimazu right now it's the samurai faction. Re: Rise to power: How I learned to stop worrying and love Realm Divide I think there's a lot going for taking a few years to tech up to land consolidation.
